5th grade

 

1.      Students will create a diorama in which they show the material culture as it is affected by the physical and social environment of the Native American group before the 17th century. Students will use primary documents and make a historical analysis of Native Americans. (Theme 4)

2.      Students  will research and present a PowerPoint presentation which include effects made on their culture, economic systems, and human environmental interactions in the Southwest, Northeast, and Southeast regions of the United States. (Theme 3,4,5)

3.      Students  will research and present explorers who have changed the United States and World through their explorations. (Theme 3,5)

4.      Students will compare and contrast geographic, economic and social differences in the three colonial regions and connect them to the present day Northeastern and Southeastern regions. (Theme 4,5,6)

5.      Students will identify key individuals, events, causes, conflicts, and attitudes that led to the reform of our government during the American Revolution. (Theme 1,3,4,6,7)

6.      Students will share how technological advancements (inventions) affected regions, people, and the economic system. (Theme 6,8)

7.      Students will identify key individuals, events, causes, conflicts, and attitudes that led to the reform of our government during the Civil War. Students will read diaries of the Civil War time and make historical analysis. (Theme 1,3,4,6,7)

8.      Students will use a variety of skills interpret, analyze and evaluate social concepts using various types of maps and other historical documents. (Theme 5)
