Pottery/Sculpture III
Objectives
NSA 4, 5 - 1. TLW describe, in writing, the significance of sculpture as produced by different cultures throughout the ages.
NSA 1, 2 - 2. TLW develop skills in using tools and techniques involved in the sculpture process.
NSA 1, 2 - 3. TLW develop the skills of throwing on the wheel and hand building and throwing together.
NSA 2 - 4. TLW develop hand building skills (coil, slab, sculpture of objects, carving).
NSA 1, 2 - 5. TLW develop skills in using tools and techniques involved in the pottery process along with vocabulary terms.
NSA 2 - 6. TLW understand the proper way to handle care of work, tools, and correct cones in glazing process.
NSA 1, 2 - 7. TLW create a pot on the potter's wheel that is 6+ inches and glazed.
NSA 3, 5, 6 - 8. TLW work in small groups, choose a particular culture, and investigate the cultural function and meaning of the work. Discuss in a large group how functional objects can have meaning and how removing them from their own culture can affect that meaning.
NSA 1,2, 3, 6 - 9. TLW creature a vision of work using recyclable items and explain in writing its function and purpose .
NSA 1, 2, 3, 6 - 10.TLW creature a recyclable screamer by using four forms of recyclable items to create a four dimensional image, which must be able to stand alone.
NSA 1, 2, 3, 5 - 11. TLW use a box of toothpicks and glue to create a protective cage for an egg to be dropped from the third floor (the egg must survive and not crack in the process).
