Art I

Objectives

NSA 1, 2, 3, 5 -  1. TLW apply new and more technical areas of art both 2-D and 3D.

NSA 1, 2, 5 - 2. TLW develop skills in using art materials, tools, and thought forming processes.

NSA 5, 6 - 3. TLW demonstrate the ability to make more informed critical judgments on artistic quality both orally and in writing.

NSA 1 - 4. TLW create a series of artwork emphasizing a variety of selected elements and principles. Compare and contrast how the elements of design function in the works.

NSA 1 - 5. TLW define the formal elements and design principles and recognize how they are used in images.

NSA 1, 4 - 6. TLW create a work with similar meaning or function for today's culture.  Have learners make connections between his/her artwork and the artwork from other cultures studied.

NSA 1 -  7. TLW discuss  the medium and techniques used to create a selected artwork.

NSA 1 -  8. TLW work with a variety of approaches to art ( e.g. mimetic, pragmatic, expressive, and formal).

NSA 1 -  9. TLW solve problems through the visual arts.

NSA 4 -  10.  TLW Discuss and give examples of what can be learned about the values of another culture through its art.
